Important 18th
century writing arm Windsor chair attributed to Col. Ebenezer Tracy,
Lisbon, Ct. c1790. A rare and very fine example in a high
state of preservation having its original black color and surface
undisturbed. The chair is not signed, but displays a well developed
form one can easily associate with the Tracy shop. An old stable
hairline in its bow is its only flaw and considering age, easily
forgivable. 41" tall with a 17.5" seat height. If you've been
searching for a "killer" writing arm chair, this outstanding example
could very well end your search. Inventory number 23PD664

United Cigars
advertising sign. Fresh from a Massachusetts collection, this
is one of the finest ad-signs we've had in a very long time. It
remains in excellent untouched original condition and if there's a
flaw, the letter "G" has an age crack which we feel may have been in
the making and not a later repair. Having said this, I would still
rate the sign a "10". Surrounding the sign is a gilded rope border
with corner rosettes giving it a final touch. Verso is information
about who the sign was made for and further identifying its maker
and original price. If you're looking for a fabulous sign to top off
your collections, look no further. This is a fine sign worthy of a
fine collection! Size: 36 x 21 x 1.5

An American
portrait miniature by James Sanford Ellsworth,1802-1873, Windsor,
Connecticut. Ellsworth is considered by many to be an
important member of the miniature portrait painters community. Each
portrait contains a similar stylized chair and his signature cloud
serves to accent the sitter's profile. Most of Elleworth's work has
some color to enhance its sitters, but this example is unique as
only a single color was used to create the portrait. Presented in a
gold leaf frame of the period which measures 5.5 x 4 overall under
historic glass. c1835. Inventory number 23PD686.

Small late 19th
century quill weathervane. Composition: Cut, formed and
soldered sheet copper with a historic surface of several layers of
paint with small areas of verdigris showing through. Quill
weathervanes were used on schools and libraries and with this one
being quite small, one would guess it once graced a small one room
school. Overall the condition is very good with a very slight bend
at the vertical rod which does not distract. Size: 25 x 17.5

Late 19th/early
20th century pocket watch trade sign. Most of these signs are
cast iron, but this version I'm fairly confident to say is cast
zinc. It's not nearly as heavy yet has survived well in weathered
condition. Completely untouched and original with tin faces in
wonderful condition considering so many get battered while in use.
The face of the clock on both sides shows honest wear and
weathering. The name Bunch is common in Pennsylvania and it's quite
possible the sign is from the greater Philadelphia area. Size: 24
inches tall with a 17 inch diameter face.
