Description

Large cast iron Pretzel Trade Sign. Over the years we've had our share of trade signs, but this is the first pretzel. We believe it dates c1900 and originates from a Pennsylvania bakery. It's very well done and remains in excellent condition. We don't feel it was ever hung outdoors as its surface and wear suggests it wasn't. Size: about 18 x 18. Inventory number 25-50

Late 18th or very early 19th century tape loom from a single piece of native New England white pine. Very nice condition, free of damage with a true and honest toned color and surface. Size: 21 x 12. If you've been looking for a nice example, you might give this one some serious thoughts as it will not disappoint. Inventory number 24-829

$1250.   INQUIRE

"GIGUNDOUS" oval swing handle Nantucket Basket. This HUGE basket has a very interesting story. It was made by Arthur Martin, 1930-2000. He learned the skill of making these baskets while in prison and became quite good as they are highly collected when they can be found. Source: Nantucket Historical Society. As mentioned this has to be one of his largest undertakings as it measures incredibly at 24 x 27 x 14 and remains in flawless condition with a very good color and tone. Inventory number 24-826.

$1950.   INQUIRE

Tiny oval Nantucket Basket. On the opposite scale is this very small oval Nantucket Basket which measures only 4.5" end to end and like its big brother above, it too remains in flawless condition. It is signed on the bottom dowel with the faint initials JP or JR. (check my close up image to see this signature). This is the smallest oval Nantucket basket we have ever seen or owned so in using the word "RARE" we feel it's very appropriate. Size: 4.5 x 3 x 1.5 Inventory number 25-6.

$1400.   INQUIRE

Late 18th or very early 19th century, puddle cast tombstone shaped fireback. The detailed face of a man is cast in along with his initials LR. Unless there is information to identify this man, he will be forever unknown. The fireback was found in an early coastal home in Massachusetts and we were told it could have been that of a captain or master. Size: 19.5 x 14. Excellent as found condition. Inventory number 24-859.

$1450.   INQUIRE

An early densely carved two board panel which we feel was the top of a document or storage box. It's skillfully carved and the more you look at it, the more one can appreciate its maker's skill. Size: 16" square. Late 18th or early 19th century. Inventory number 24-976.

$1200.   INQUIRE

A very fine Southern New England or Pennsylvania miniature one drawer blanket chest in original paint. Dovetail construction, drawer and case, with tiny snipe hinges is completely original and untouched. We love offering artifacts in a no-apology state with this being one of those objects. It measures 9 x 8.5 x 6. Inventory number 25-36.

A very attractive early 20th century half round hooked rug in a vibrant and "happy" floral design. It measures 42 x 24 and if you have a dark area in your home that needs a little lighting up, please consider this wonderful little used rug which is now wall ready after being professionally mounted. Inventory number 24-778.

A modern OOC rendition of a very famous Dutch painting by Dutch artist Paulus Potter. Potter specialized in animals within landscapes with his original work, "The Young Bull" being done on a grand lifesize scale measuring 7.8 feet wide and now located in the Mauritshuis in the Hague. This original painting was done in 1647. Excellent condition in a modern frame measuring 22 x 18. We feel this work portrays what we know of today as having folk art qualities even then. Inventory number 24-864.

$1295.   INQUIRE

Handmade tin paddlewheeler folk art boat model. Our guess it's southern and made by a tin craftsman very familiar with these boats as its detail suggests. Its overall condition is very good with a few minor imperfections. Size: 20 x 10 x 5.5. Age: c1920-30. Inventory number 24-935.

$950.   INQUIRE

An exceptional 4th of July Holiday arrangement by Doris Stauble, 1918-2007, Wiscasset, Maine. Doris became famous for making these arrangements which are now found in major collections coast to coast. We feel this one is quite special as it was made to honor and commemorate our country's 200th year of independence. Not only is it very patriotic colorwise, we love the eagle finial placed on top of the piece. Size: 17 x 15. Inventory number 24-930.

$850.   INQUIRE

A very unusual fireman's helmet and horn. Weathervanes in this form were originally made in the 19th century with similar forms available today. We are not calling this a weathervane because of its very small size, measuring only 13 x 9. There is a possibility it may be a salesman's sample or simply a fine object of desire. You'll love the form, color and detail which are very impressive. The price includes a modern wooden base. Age: last half of the 20th century. Inventory number 24-960.

$1450.   INQUIRE
